The Tiny Art For All Gallery Project  (TAAG) is a series of 5 small-scale, interactive popup art galleries located along the bike path between Northampton and Florence, Massachusetts. Each gallery will host one artist, exhibition, or collaboration for 2 months each. The mission of the Tiny Art for All Gallery Project is to provide new opportunities for anyone identifying as artist/maker and to place art directly into communities to engage and interact with.

Traditionally throughout history, people have created shrines to memorialize the dead. They are considered sacred spaces-- usually a small structure or a setup of pictures and figurines dedicated to a deity-- in which one can make offerings. Shrines can also serve as physical places to honor and celebrate a creature’s life. 

 Lynn Sisler’s work strives to create thoughtful consciousness about cycles, humans’ relationship to the Earth, and the interconnectedness within all species. Both gray and red squirrels are common and abundant in Massachusetts. We often see (and hear!) them in our backyards, in parks, in the city and in rural areas. Humans and squirrels share space on a daily basis. The Squirrel Shrine is a way to playfully and joyfully honor a love and respect of squirrels, and to draw attention to the connection between humans and squirrels everywhere.

 1. You are invited to leave some sort of creative, positive offering for the squirrels within the gallery space. You can use the pens and sticky notes provided or you can use/bring your own supplies. Some suggestions or ideas include:

a. A poem to or about a squirrel

b. A love letter to the squirrels 

c. Something to eat that a squirrel would enjoy-- such as an acorn, dried corn, a flower…)

d. An interesting piece of nesting materials (a bit of string, a leaf, a bit of grass…)

e. A small drawing, painting, or photo

2. Place the offering in the Shrine where you see fit.

3. Read, view, and enjoy what others have contributed.

4. In exchange for an offering, you may “adopt” one of the ceramic squirrel-shaped magnets made by the artist, Lynn Sisler. We ask that you please only adopt one squirrel magnet per family with your offering.
